Though he's still considered middle-aged for an elf, Esslar has been alive for a long, long time.

Served as a scribe in his youth before becoming a Farstrider sometime before their official formation.
0 ADP: By the First War, he had risen to the rank of Lieutenant and had found a specialty in long-range recon. His skill in observation, subtlety, and drawing detailed maps were strong attributes in this role.
4 ADP: He continued to serve as surveillance during the Second War and was promoted to Captain.
20 ADP: Esslar was far from Quel'thalas during the Invasion of Quel'thalas. He mourned for Silvermoon but rejected the identity of the Blood Elves, choosing to remain a High Elf.
22-30ADP: The Farstriders were effectively eliminated, at least as he'd known them, and he became a free agent wandering Azeroth. He would work equally for Horde or Alliance, but never against the other.
31 ADP: Retiring from adventuring, Esslar opened a bookstore on the recently re-discovered continent of Pandaria, enjoying a more peaceful life and all the tea.

Technically the oldest character in my stable since I've been writing some version of Esslar since I was 12.
